Explosion at Factory that Produces Guns Imported by Century Arms Kills Woman

  An explosion at a factory that produces guns imported by Century Arms has killed a woman and injured four others, including two children. The blast occurred during the manufacturing process, and authorities are investigating whether it was caused by an accident or sabotage.


According to a statement released by the company, the explosion took place in the section of the factory where gun barrels are installed on frames. The incident occurred at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday night.


The injured parties were taken to hospitals in the area for treatment; their conditions remain unknown as of this writing.

The explosion happened on Friday night at the Mossberg & Sons factory in North Haven, Connecticut. The woman was taken to nearby Yale-New Haven Hospital with severe burns and died later that evening.


The factory produces firearms in an assembly line fashion, and it's believed that the cause of the explosion was a malfunction in one of these lines. In addition to supplying parts for Century Arms, Mossberg also makes some of its own products based on designs from other manufacturers.
